Friday happiness

It's been a long and stressful week with pre-exam nerv and studying, so obviously I'm quite happy that it's friday! I didn't really have time to read blogs lately, so my weekend will be about catching up and some more studying of course, but after that just a few nights to sleep and it's Christmas!! (By the way, have you seen my holiday snippets?)
How was your week? Tell me about it!

Do you already know what you’ll wear this Christmas? I’m one of those girls who loves to be chic and cozy at the same time through the holidays. A pair of jeans or leggings with a sweater is the perfect choice if it comes to family gatherings with loads of food, in my opinion. Considering my grandma puts food on the table every other hour through the day and then tells me I must eat, well… comfortable clothing is the only option, really.
An elegante cut, a fun color, cute patterns make the outfit pop, so you can be fashionable and comfy at the same time.

Christmas snippets No.3

Do you like sending Christmas cards? I sure do. Though I have to admit I’m a bit guilty on this part of the holiday preparations every year. I always buy my cards on time (around late November) and then get so caught up in all the busyness of December that at the end I only send them right before the 24th. And then of course pray to the post office gods to be quick enough. Because how lame that is if someone gets a holiday card after the holidays? Very!
But back to my point. I'm fond of pretty holiday cards very much. My favourites are the vintage styled ones with families gathering around the tree, kids running around opening presents, snow falling. And of course I love cards that are made by the person who sent it, specifically for me. With buttons, ribbons, shiny paper…
Either way, at the end of day it really doesn’t matter what kind of that card is. I’m happy for them all because getting a card means someone thought of me, and that’s what  counts, right?

You can check the sources of the pictures on my board on Pinterest, where I collected a lot more cards that might be of your interest.

Book recommendation – The Alienist by Caleb Carr

About the story in a nutshell: In the end of the 1800s, there’s a serial killer who murders children all around New York City. A group of 5 people form a team (all of them are really smart in their own area of expertise) to catch the killer.

Recommended to: Those who love a good mystery with a bit of psychothriller flavor and are interested in historical New York, will probably love it. There are some really great characters in this novel and the story itself is quite interesting.

Not recommended to: Well, it’s definitely not a book for the fragile souls, and the ones who rather read the pink, lighthearted, girly stuff.

Why I loved it: One of my favourite genres is historical fiction, for one. And I always love a book that motivates me to think. And this book did, quite a lot! And the story is set in NYC which is always a plus.

Christmas snippets No.2

To make our home hartwarming and festive around Christmas time we really don’t need anything else just our own imagination. And a few pine cones. And maybe some paint. The number of possibilities are countles, really: you can paint the cones gold and hang them on a pretty ribbon. Or paint them different colors (gold and silver look fantastic together!) and put them in a nice jar. Or just build a Christmas tree form out them. Making some DIY project ‘round this time of year is so much fun, don’t you think?
